Incubation for Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship development can be achieved by way of providing handholding support to the first generation entrepreneurs and helping them to set up their own enterprises. There is great need in the country to inculcate entrepreneurial skills to unemployed youth to help them create their own enterprises. There are many kind of MSME enterprises being promoted in the current economic environment. The first kinds of ventures are being promoted as Tech-startup with innovative technologies/ processes in specific areas of Information Technology. These startup enterprises need different kind of mentoring through the Incubation set up in Academic Institutions and Research and Development Centric Organizations. The second kind of enterprises are the ones which can cater to the requirement of daily use products and services for mass consumption which can be manufactured with usage of existing technologies at low prices. Incubation of such MSME enterprises can be done with faster turnout to provide self employment opportunities to a large number of unemployed youth.

These type of small businesses are of low capital, labour intensive and semi-skill oriented. They can provide employment to unskilled and semiskilled workers who are on or below the poverty line. Several opportunities exist for Micro and Small enterprises in small business areas like:- food processing construction, ayurvedic medicines, garments making, processing and packaging of fruits and vegatables and mechanical workshops, auto & two wheeler repair shops, printing and binding, internet cafes, business centers, home and cottage industries etc. to name a few. Service sector is another promising area for rural micro enterprises.

People can be turned to economic assets if they can be gainfully employed. It is, therefore, necessary to invest in building their capabilities towards training thereby providing relevant skills for productive employment.

In this context, there is a need to provide incubation facilities which can help in establishing new MSMEs in the manufacturing as well as services sector.

Incubation will provide an opportunity to first generation entrepreneurs to acquire skills on basic technical trades and gain exposure in areas of business operations such as business skills, appropriate technology, knowledge about machines & equipments, product selection, marketing guidance and commercial aspects of the business. The project modules for providing detailed information in entrepreneurship development can be imparted in different projects
